Chapter 20 20 Sapphire Ring

Chapter 20 20. Sapphire Ring

"I just read a little more books in the library when I have nothing to do. If I really get started, I can't even use a spell now."

Jon lowered his head and took a sip of the warm black tea. He had just eaten at Hagrid's and had no intention of drinking anything now.

"Good theory is the basis for successful practice." Slughorn said and poured himself a cup of tea. "I have never missed anyone. You will definitely have a bright future. If this is in peacetime, I will definitely invite you to join my club."

Jon certainly knew the club he was talking about. Those who can join it are indeed some people who are either capable or have prominent family backgrounds.

Slughorn is obviously very good at getting close to students. He can always take the initiative in socializing. This is not only due to his identity, but also his innate expertise.

Jon just helped by chance. He didn't mean to stay here any longer. After sitting and drinking two more sips of tea, he stood up and prepared to leave.

Slughorn did not try to persuade him to stay, but asked him to take a few pieces of toffee and a box of pineapple preserves with him.

After leaving the office and closing the door from the outside, Jon did not linger on the corridor. He was worried that if he did not go back, Neville would go to Professor McGonagall to report his disappearance.

However, just as Jon took a step to return to the dormitory, he suddenly felt a cold touch on the index finger of his right hand.

He was slightly stunned, then raised his hand and saw a ring on his index finger that he had never seen before!

It was a silver ring, which looked very slender as a whole. It was the right size for Jon's finger, and there was a diamond-shaped blue gem in the middle of the ring.

The gem was very small, and it was not suspended on the ring, but was directly wrapped in the ring. In front and behind the gem, surrounding the silver ring, there were four diamond-shaped gaps, as if there were four gems that should have been inlaid there before.

Jon couldn't help but frowned deeply when he looked at the ring. He was sure that the ring was not his, and he had never seen such a thing before!

He tried to take the ring off his index finger and took it off easily.

The first thing Jon thought of was that it was Slughorn's thing, because before entering his office, he didn't have this thing in his hand, and it suddenly appeared just after he walked out of the office door.

He just thought about it for a while and immediately thought of a solution in his mind.

Regardless of whether this thing came from Slughorn to his hand, he had to go back and give the ring to him.

Diaries, rings, lockets, opal necklaces and other things in the magic world, especially those of unknown origin, are mostly not good things, and there are always some curses attached to them that are difficult for ordinary people to understand.

Jon never imagined that there might be an old man hidden in this ring, saying that he was the chosen son of God. It is safest to nip the possible danger in the bud than those things!

So he turned around without hesitation and knocked on Slughorn's office door again.

"Come in."

Slughorn, who was stuffing a candied pineapple into his mouth, looked at Jon who had come back in with some surprise and asked in confusion.

"Do you have anything else to say, kid?"

Jon took a deep breath and stretched out his right hand in front of him.

"Professor, when I left your office, I don't know why this suddenly appeared on my hand."

Seeing the ring lying quietly in Jon's palm, Slughorn was obviously stunned.

But he quickly reacted and quickly threw the candied pineapple that he had not yet stuffed into his mouth back onto the desk, and at the same time opened the drawer in front of him and took out a small wooden box from it.

He opened the small wooden box in front of Jon, and it was empty inside, but it was obvious from the marks of the soft cushion being sunken that there should have been a ring lying there.

Slughorn's face became serious. He put away his usual smiling face and his serious face was even a little scary.

However, this seriousness did not last long. He relaxed his brows again, but then his eyebrows quickly wrinkled again.

He did not speak, but stood up from the chair directly, and paced back and forth in front of Jon with his hands behind his back and a gloomy face.

Jon did not dare to disturb him. Slughorn's reaction at least made him feel at ease. The ring originally belonged to the professor of defense class, but he didn't know why it fell into his hands after he went out.

Finally, Slughorn stopped his anxious thinking, stared at Jon, and stretched out his hand.

"Give me the ring."

Jon returned the ring to him without any hesitation.

After getting the ring, Slughorn did not let Jon leave, nor did he put it back into the wooden box immediately. Instead, he just stepped back towards him. After stepping back about three meters, a familiar cold feeling suddenly appeared on Jon's index finger again!

Jon looked at the ring that seemed to be attached to him, with a look of surprise on his face. Compared to him, Slughorn's face became calm at this time.

"Professor, this."

"You just take it first." Slughorn looked at the ring on Jon's hand and said softly, "Don't worry about anything else, it won't cause you any harm, but you can't get rid of it for the time being. Go back first, Jon, I will find you again after I figure out some things tomorrow, and then I will explain the matter of this ring to you. Also, don't tell anyone about the ring during this period, remember! Anyone!"

Jon was certainly not very reassured about such a result, but he couldn't force Slughorn to tell what the ring was right now.

He could only ask.

"When can I come to see you tomorrow, professor?"

As if he saw his worry, Slughorn set a time for him.

"Have lunch tomorrow at noon, we should all be free at that time."

After getting an accurate time, Jon finally left.

He returned to the dormitory. Neville was in a hurry to go out. He was relieved when he saw Jon.

"Where have you been? I didn't see you at lunch. I almost went to Professor McGonagall to tell her that you were missing."

"I went to help Professor Slughorn a little. Don't worry, I've already eaten lunch and brought back some desserts."

Jon acted as if nothing had happened and put the pineapple candied fruit and toffee on the table. But when he lay back on the bed, he still quietly picked up the ring inlaid with a blue gemstone and was in a trance.
