Chapter 29 Mrs. Weasley's Gift Box
Chapter 29 29. Mrs. Weasley's Gift Box
After Halloween, the temperature in the UK dropped significantly.
Hogwarts prepared winter clothes for the students. Although the carriages were always in exile, daily necessities were not scarce.
The fireplaces in the common room were also burning warmly. Jon and the other four were writing their spells homework inside.
To be precise, Neville and the other four were writing, and Jon was helping to guide them.
Ron held the quill pen and couldn't write a word for a long time. Looking at the blank space of five or six inches under the parchment, he couldn't help but beg Jon.
"Give me your homework for reference, Jon. I'll just take a look. I won't copy it exactly, but just find some ideas."
In response, Jon just refused firmly.
"Don't think about it. Don't forget what Professor Flitwick said to you and me last time. You only borrowed from the last paper, but the professor still found out. If you are caught again, you and I will have to write the copied homework ten times."
"You should write it yourself, Ron. Even if Jon can copy your homework for you now, can you still let him take the exam for you in your Charms class?" Neville also said earnestly.
"Okay, okay, stop your preaching, I will write it myself."
Ron sighed and turned his attention to the parchment again with a sad face.
It's not that he really can't write at all. There are no idiots in the Weasley family. It's just that he really can't sit still and can't focus on writing papers.
As the freshmen spend more time together, their relationship has long been much closer than when the school started. After all, none of the five people have a bad personality.
Although Jon didn't talk much at first, he was always able to provide reliable help to others, whether in study or in daily life, which made him the center of this small circle. Even if Neville encountered something he couldn't make up his mind about, he would ask him to help make the decision.
Halloween is also a special festival in the UK, but for safety reasons, the carriage for the Halloween dinner was not parked in a fixed location. It was just decorated in the dining room of the carriage, and everyone had a big meal together.
After Halloween, it means that there is only one and a half months left for Christmas, the most important festival for all Westerners.
The atmosphere in Hogwarts is becoming more relaxed. Both big and small children are looking forward to where Hagrid will take them to enjoy Christmas dinner this Christmas.
Few students or professors talk about the attack in September. It has obviously been gradually forgotten by most people in the carriage. Only a handful of people still remember it.
Jon's study of brain block with Slughorn is also progressing steadily.
He was very talented, and he made rapid progress in both basic spells and transfiguration in class and advanced magic like Occlumency. Slughorn even deduced from the progress that he could officially start teaching him the spellcasting skills of the ring before Christmas and the end of this year.
Just as Jon and the others were doing their homework, Filch, who looked embarrassed, came to the lounge at some point. He walked straight to the square table where Jon and the other four were and placed a large brown paper box in front of Ron.
"These are some things your family sent you. Professor McGonagall asked me to send them to you. Remember what you can't bring with you in the school rules. If there's anything in this box, hand it in immediately! Otherwise, I'll make you look good!"
After saying these threatening words, he left with a sour face, and when he left, he would occasionally look back at the box in front of Ron, as if he wanted to see him open it to make sure there was nothing prohibited inside.
After Filch completely left the lounge, Ron made a face at the door.
"'Otherwise I'll make you look good!'" He exaggeratedly imitated Filch's expression just now, "He's really annoying, isn't he?"
Justin nodded in agreement. He had just been punished a few days ago for accidentally tripping on the corridor and spilling ink all over the floor.
"Although he is indeed a little strict and fierce, he has always done things according to the rules." Neville comforted.
Lavender looked at the paper box in front of Ron with some expectation.
"Open it and see what your family has sent you!"
"It must be some food made by my mother herself, and a letter asking me to study hard in school, not to fool around with George and Fred, and to take Percy as a role model."
Ron muttered as he opened the paper box. There was indeed a large bag of handmade chocolates and a bag of candy, and a letter on top of the candy.
He took out the letter, then opened the candy directly and prepared to share it with Jon and the others.
"Come on, try them all. My mom's cooking skills have always been pretty good, although she doesn't have the chance to make any luxurious meals."
These things are very ordinary, but Justin and Lavender clearly showed envy on their faces.
Even if it was simple, it was made by Ron's mother herself. One of their parents fled to Iceland to avoid the Ministry of Magic, and the other parent had even their memory of having a child like him erased. This was a trivial matter for Ron, but it became a luxury for them.
Jon, who was thoughtful, noticed the emotional changes between the two of them, so he took the initiative to take the chocolate and candy and share them.
"They all look good and should taste great."
Neville also tacitly turned the topic to something else.
"I've been to Ron's house before. Mrs. and Mr. Weasley are both easy to get along with."
"They only act easy to get along with in front of other children. You can ask George and Fred. They have been scolded by their mother countless times." Ron said while reading the letter, "It's just as I guessed. Mom told me and Percy to learn well again."
When Jon was sharing the candy, he suddenly noticed that there was a thick layer of newspaper at the bottom of the paper box that Mrs. Weasley brought to Ron.
The people on the front page of the newspaper can move like in the video. A young man who looks very familiar to him, with a unique badge on his chest, is smiling at him gently.
Jon's eyes narrowed slightly, and he reached out to take the newspaper out of the paper box. Right above the photo is the title of the front page news.
