Chapter 18 18 Driving Seat
Chapter 18 18. Driving Seat
"You even stole a glass ball? Why don't you steal the golden branch under the feet of Dumbledore's phoenix?"
Jon held the Niffler by the back of his head, muttering unkindly as he walked out of the library.
The Niffler, who failed to steal and was caught on the spot, blinked his pitiful eyes at him, as if responding to Jon's question with his eyes.
I don't dare.
"Okay, so you really want to steal! Now you don't dare, so you bully the weak and come to steal my things?"
Jon knew the creature Niffler, of course, its appearance features were very easy to identify, and with this petty thieving character, no other magical creature would be like this.
"Give me back my things."
Jon stretched out his other hand to the Niffler, but the little thing looked like a miser, tucked his two little paws in the pocket in front of his belly, and had no intention of taking out the hidden crystal ball again.
Seeing its posture of a dead pig not afraid of boiling water, Jon did not indulge it. He turned it over on the spot and tried to pour out everything in its pocket like a bag.
Sniff desperately covered his pocket and screamed. No matter how Jon shook it, it looked like it was determined to defend its property to the death.
In the end, Jon really had no way to deal with it. He could only hold it and wanted to find someone to help. He couldn't solve this thief, but it didn't mean that others couldn't solve it.
Just as Jon was holding Sniff and walking towards the restaurant, passing the spell class classroom, he vaguely heard a rough voice inside shouting something.
"Biqi, Biqi, are you here?"
Hearing the name Biqi, Sniff, who was held by Jon, struggled more violently. It squeaked as if responding to the shouting of the person in the classroom.
Jon immediately knew who raised this "thief". There was no one else in the carriage except him.
He grabbed the Niffler and walked into the Charms classroom. Hagrid, the coachman, was not at his post, but was anxiously looking for something here.
"Hagrid, are you looking for it?"
Hagrid heard Jon's voice, turned around and saw what he was holding in his hand, and his face immediately showed surprise.
"Ah! Yes, you little naughty! I finally found you! You can't get lost again. I have lost my teeth, and I can't lose you again."
When he said the latter part, his voice was choked with sobs.
Jon exchanged the Niffler named Beech to Hagrid's hand. Beech immediately followed Hagrid's hand and quickly ran into the pocket of his fur coat, revealing only half of his little head, with his paws lying on the edge of the pocket and looking at Jon with a vigilant face.
"Thank you, child, I still remember you. Your name is Jon, right? It was Lily who brought you to the carriage."
Hagrid was grateful, and it was obvious that this little thing was really important to him.
Jon waved his hand, still not forgetting the crystal ball. After all, it was something Neville gave him. He couldn't explain to anyone if he just lost it.
"It stole my things, Hagrid. Can you help me get it back from it?"
"So that's how it is."
Hagrid frowned and took Beech out of his pocket.
"Give it back. I told you not to steal anything from this carriage."
Beech obviously listened to Hagrid more. It looked pitiful and reluctant to search in its pocket for a while before putting the crystal ball in Hagrid's hand.
Hagrid returned the crystal ball to Jon.
"I'm really sorry. I will keep it under control in the future."
Jon didn't care about this episode. He was curious about another thing.
"It doesn't matter. But don't you have to drive the carriage? Can you leave from the front of the carriage?"
Hagrid smiled.
"Of course I don't have to keep watching them. Even if the Thestrals leave, I can go on my own. Do you want to go with me? Just consider it as my compensation for this time."
Jon was indeed a little moved by his words, and he asked hesitantly.
"Won't this violate the school rules?"
"Don't worry, it's not like you're leaving the carriage, and I'm with you, so it won't be a problem."
When Hagrid said this, he had already pushed Jon towards the corridor enthusiastically. Jon didn't hesitate anymore and followed Hagrid to the front of the carriage.
At the end of the corridor they came to, right opposite was Dumbledore's office, and Hagrid took Jon to open the unmarked door on the left side of the office.
The moment the door was opened, Jon felt a breeze accompanied by a scent of wheat blowing towards him from outside the door, and outside was a golden wheat field that was constantly retreating backwards.
"Follow me, Jon, don't just stand there."
Hagrid led the way in front, and Jon followed him out of the carriage together.
After coming out of the carriage, there was a fairly open area. Last time when Lily took Jon to talk to Hagrid under the carriage, it was too dark at night so he didn't see the whole picture of the driver's seat. Now he could see the furnishings here.
Hagrid was not sitting on an ordinary chair, but a long couch that was nearly three or four meters long. There was a thick layer of animal fur on the couch. It seemed that he would lie on it to rest in his spare time.
Wrapped around the couch was a row of curved wooden cabinets. For Jon, the cabinets were already longer than his height, but for Hagrid, they were just at the level of his chest when he sat down, allowing him to see clearly. See the view ahead.
The cabinet is full of all kinds of strange gadgets, as well as a big teapot, teacups, and some snacks.
Hagrid invited Jon to sit down next to him, then poured him a cup of warm black tea and brought him a cream and honey cake.
It was obvious that some kind of spell had been cast on the driver's seat, which blocked out all the strong winds. Only a refreshing breeze blew in. The sound of the carriage speeding on the ground was louder than in the carriage, but it didn't seem noisy. On the contrary, it was It gives me the feeling of being on a journey all the time.
They were now driving through a large wheat field with no end in sight. Jon was holding black tea in his hand and standing on tiptoes to see over the cabinet and see the scene ahead.
The golden wheat seemed to come to life before the carriage ran over it, automatically making way for it.
Hagrid noticed Jon's inconvenience and brought him a small bench and placed it on the couch so that he would not have to stand on tiptoe to see the scenery in front of him.
