Chapter 17 17 Thief
Chapter 17 17. Thief
"There is no difference between wolf-shaped Aconitum and boat-shaped Aconitum in essence. They are just called differently. They are all the same name for Aconitum."
"Many novices who learn potions easily confuse them and think they are variants of Aconitum, and thus are deceived by some unscrupulous merchants."
There are no desks in the potion class classroom. In front of Jon and his classmates, there is a black crucible. There are rows of wooden shelves on the walls of the classroom. There are no animal body tissues that make people feel cold, but some strange-looking herbs and some ordinary flowers and plants.
According to Lily, making potions can easily make the heart of the potion maker dark, so a sunny and fresh environment is very necessary.
"Let's stop here for today's class. Next time, each of you must give me a one-foot-long homework and write down your understanding of the potion materials I talked about in this class."
The attitude of this potion professor towards students is not gentle. She seems to look at everyone with the same face, expressionless, and looks a little lifeless.
Having been with Neville and the others for so many days, Neville would whisper to Jon about some secrets about Professor Potter when they chatted before going to bed at night.
It is said that she had a happy family before.
Neville's words also confirmed Jon's initial guess that the first node of the world's transformation was most likely the night when Voldemort found the Potter family after hearing the prophecy.
After packing up the crucible in the classroom, Jon and the other five walked out of the Potions classroom together.
Wednesday is the day with the least classes in their week. After this potion class, there is an astronomy class with Professor Flitwick at midnight today, and most of the day is free.
"Do you want to go to the common room to play wizard chess?" Ron suggested.
He had just finished the punishment of cleaning the toilet for a week the day before yesterday. These two days, he wanted to divide it into three parts and make up for the time he didn't play before.
Justin and Lavender accepted it happily, and Neville said that he would go to the dormitory to catch up on sleep to prepare for the astronomy class in the evening.
Jon also shook his head. He was not very interested in wizard chess.
"You go ahead. I want to go to the library."
Others were not surprised by this. Since he knew that there was a library full of magic books on the carriage, he basically spent all his free time there.
Separated from Ron and the others, Jon walked towards the library alone.
After he stepped on the carriage, he always had an inexplicable sense of crisis in his heart.
The temporarily peaceful study life did not eliminate this sense of crisis in his heart. Jon knew very well that no matter what kind of changes Voldemort had undergone, the people led by Dumbledore were always a thorn in his eyes.
Especially since he seemed to have completely taken control of the power of the magic world and had basically reached the peak of wizard power, then Hogwarts on this carriage was the last place that was not controlled by him.
He would definitely find ways to completely destroy the most conspicuous "stain" in the magic world. Jon could not guess what kind of arrangement he had for this. The only thing he could do now was to constantly supplement himself.
Only when he was filling his knowledge did he feel safe for a moment.
Professor Flitwick estimated that he would have to wait until next week's spells class to officially start teaching them real spells, but in the first Transfiguration class, Jon had already experienced the magic of magic.
His talent was unexpectedly good. At least when Professor McGonagall taught them how to turn a match into a needle, Jon was the first of the five freshmen to succeed, and there was no record of failure before. Professor McGonagall was very happy about this and exempted him from the Transfiguration homework.
This made him feel a little relieved, and he ran to the library more diligently every day.
Having talent only means that he has the possibility of becoming a powerful wizard, and diligence can help him get closer and closer to this possibility.
Jon was not the only one in the library. There were several senior students who did not have courses looking through the materials and completing the homework assigned by the professor.
It was very quiet around, with only the "rustling" sound of the feather pen rubbing against the parchment.
After understanding the effects of spells and wand-waving gestures on spells, Jon did not plan to practice spells privately without even mastering a spell systematically.
The consequences of spell errors or incorrect wand-waving gestures are unpredictable, and the problems can be big or small. For Jon, who is now cautious, he would rather wait until Professor Flitwick really starts teaching them spells before trying other seemingly simple spells.
However, before that, he is still very interested in these spell books that record various conventional spells. Before actually practicing, theoretical knowledge is also indispensable.
Time passed slowly, and when lunch was about to start, Jon was the only one left in the library.
Just as he was thinking about the pronunciation of the repair spell in the "Standard Spells: Level 3", a small black shadow suddenly passed by the corner of his eye.
Jon was slightly stunned, and when he looked at the bookshelf again, he found nothing.
He put the book on the desk and stretched his body, thinking that he had read the book for too long and his eyes were blurry.
After looking at the time on the pendulum clock and feeling that it was about time, he stood up from the chair and put the spell book back to its original position on the bookshelf, just as he was leaving the library.
Suddenly, Jon felt the hem of his robe sink, as if something was climbing up along his clothes!
The thing was very fast, and just when Jon noticed it, it had already crawled into the pocket on the right side of the robe, and just when it crawled in and wanted to get out immediately, Jon had already reacted.
He stretched out his hand and directly covered the exit of the pocket. No matter how hard the creature inside struggled, it couldn't get out of his pocket.
Jon grabbed the small, soft thing that jumped into his pocket with one hand, and the other hand loosened the opening of the pocket, allowing him to see this bold and reckless "thief".
This is a creature covered with black fur and a long snout. At first glance, its mouth looks like a duck, and there is a pocket growing on its belly in front of it.
As Jon looked at it, it was frantically trying to stuff a crystal ball model about the size of a pigeon egg into the pocket in front of its belly. It was a small gift that Neville had given him a few days ago to thank him for helping to guide his Transfiguration paper.
