Chapter 241 The Orcs' Ambush (1/2)
Chapter 241 The Killing of the Orcs
"That...maybe it's a coincidence." Aaron slowly raised his right hand, "Don't forget, omens are not only visible to dwarves."
Hearing this, Gandalf and Thorin calmed down.
"What happened?" Thorin asked coldly.
Gandalf looked solemn, "We are being hunted."
"We have to leave here." Dwalin said.
"There is no way, we don't have a pony." Ori ran over and said, "They ran away."
"Then we can only fight to the death." Aaron took a deep breath, "I have twelve arrows here, which can kill twelve enemies.
Add a dozen warriors and two wizards, maybe we can fight our way out."
"This is the worst plan." Gandalf said, "We may be able to kill the Orc scouts, but what about the army later?
We can't be the opponent of an army with just us, so we still have to find a way to escape."
"I'll lead them away." The brown-robed wizard Radagast said.
"Those are Gundaba Wargs. They will catch up with you." Gandalf did not agree with this proposal. If something happened to the brown-robed wizard, it would be a huge loss to Middle-earth.
"How about I go?"
After the voice fell, everyone turned their eyes to Aaron, and the forest became very quiet.
"No." Bilbo said immediately, "It's too dangerous. You can't run faster than those wolves on your two legs."
"You have to try." Aaron smiled, "If you are lucky, you can still escape."
"Now is not the time to believe in luck!" Radagast pointed to his vehicle confidently, "These are Rosgarburg rabbits. It's hard to say who will win."
......
Radagist drove the sled pulled by Rosgarburg rabbits, shouted loudly in the green field, and one person led away the wolf scouts scattered in all directions.
The others hid behind a big rock. Seeing the wolf scouts being led away, Gandalf immediately led everyone to take a detour from the other side.
But even so, it was extremely dangerous, because they were on a plain, with only irregular boulders to provide cover, but once they moved, they would be exposed to the orcs' view.
Radagast was very fast, taking a large number of warg scouts around the plain, but he did not lead all the scouts away.
An orc stopped while chasing, and he drove the Gundaba warg to keep sniffing, and seemed to have found the traces of the expedition team.
The warg brought him to a boulder, and then stopped, indicating that the orcs and dwarves on its back were nearby.
The orc pulled out the big knife behind him, looked around, and searched for the target to hunt.
Under the boulder, all the members of the expedition heard the heavy breathing of the warg, and they dared not make any sound by clinging to the stone wall.
It was not that they could not deal with this orc, but they were worried that making a noise would expose their position.
But after more than ten seconds, the warg was still on it.
Thorin realized that it was only a matter of time before the other party discovered them, and immediately decided to strike first.
He winked at Kili, signaling him to use the bow and arrow.
Kili nodded slightly, pulled an arrow from his quiver, and shot it at the head of the warg.
The warg howled in pain, and the orc on its back was shaken violently. Kili immediately shot the second arrow and hit the orc's chest.
The warg and the orc on its back dropped the boulder at the same time, and five or six dwarves rushed up and killed them as quickly as possible.
But the screams of the warg and the orcs were particularly clear on the plain. The warg scouts led away by Radagast stopped and looked in the direction of the sound.
"The dwarf bastard is there." The leading orc immediately ordered, "Go after him."
The howling of the wolf continued, and the sound of galloping was getting closer and closer.
"Run!" Aaron said immediately.
Gandalf also realized that something was wrong, "Follow me, quickly."
Two legs can't outrun four legs, or four huge wolf legs. Soon, several wargs appeared in front of the expedition, and an orc was staring at them.
More and more wargs came from all directions, and the warg scouts formed a huge encirclement.
"We are surrounded." Aaron let out a long breath and pulled Bilbo behind him.
"Hold the position." Thorin shouted loudly, and the dwarves spontaneously formed a circle, each picked up a weapon, and nervously faced the slowly approaching warg scouts.
Bilbo drew out his dagger in a panic, "What should we do now?"
"Of course, kill them."
Aaron took out two arrows from his back and aimed them at the two nearest wargs.
The two arrows were fired at the same time, and each arrow pierced the top of the warg's head, and the orcs on their backs fell to the ground.
Kili immediately added arrows and shot two orcs to death.
"Good shot," Dwalin praised.
"It's useless no matter how good we are. There are too many of them, several times more than us." Aaron smiled bitterly, "Kili, give me your arrows.
Concentrate your forces to break out in one direction later, I will try my best to cover your retreat."
"What will you do then?" Bilbo asked worriedly.
"I will catch up with you, these orcs can't kill me yet." Aaron said in a deep voice.
He won't use magic unless it's absolutely necessary, but if that happens, he won't show mercy. If he kills all these warg spies, no one will know his true strength.
"Where's Gandalf?" Oyin asked.
"He left us behind." Dwalin said.
The leading orc rode the warg and slowly approached. Seeing that the hunting targets were all here, he laughed triumphantly, revealing sharp and disgusting yellow teeth.
"It's really disgusting." Aaron pouted in disdain.
Oli took out his slingshot and fired a stone.
The stone hit the head of the warg, but it didn't hurt.
Swish!
Aaron shot an arrow, and the leading Orc immediately bent down to avoid it.
But at this moment, Aaron's second arrow hit the waist of the warg, and the leading Orc fell to the ground under the violent shaking of the warg.
"Damn bastard." The leading Orc roughly pulled out the arrow from the warg and said in a hoarse voice, "I'll kill you in a while."
"Capture the king first." Aaron walked to Thorin and whispered.
"This principle does not apply to these beasts. Whether the leader is dead or not, they will not give up hunting us."
"I know, but the leader is still very important.
When I kill him later, you lead the others to charge and break out from his direction."
Thorin looked at Aaron deeply, and was extremely surprised at the thirteen-year-old child, "How sure are you that you can survive?"
"Well... If nothing unexpected happens, you will all die, and I can live well."
"I understand." Thorin nodded heavily, "I didn't expect that I would entrust the safety of the expedition to a child.
Kili, give him your arrow."
"Thorin, this..."
"Give it to him."
"Yes."
Kili put all the remaining less than ten arrows into Aaron's quiver, "You must come alive."
Aaron took a deep breath and quickly pulled the bowstring.
An arrow shot at the leading orc at a very fast speed.
The leading orc dodged immediately, but his arm was still hit by an arrow, and the spear in his hand fell to the ground in pain.
"Ah!"
The leading orc screamed loudly, but as soon as he opened his mouth, an arrow shot through his throat.
"Kill!"
Thorin roared, and the twelve dwarves and Bilbo followed Thorin to charge.
At this moment, Gandalf's voice suddenly sounded, "Go this way, fool."
The pace of the charge stopped instantly, and they were a little at a loss for a while.
Thorin turned around and saw Gandalf lying under a huge rock less than ten meters away from them, where there seemed to be a cave entrance hidden.
"What are you all standing there for." Aaron said angrily, "Run!"
"Hurry up, everyone." Thorin took the lead and ran over, then guarded the entrance to cover his teammates' retreat.
The members of the expedition team jumped into the cave one after another, and the wolf scouts quickly surrounded them.
Thorin killed a wolf that rushed over with a sword, and after making sure that no one was left out, he jumped into the cave last.
Several orcs looked at the entrance. It seemed that the wolf could not enter this cave, and even they could only enter one by one.
Aaron returned the arrow of Qili to him, "Guard it first!"
The two shot arrows respectively, and the two orcs were shot and killed, which intimidated the other orcs and made them dare not approach.
Without the leader, the remaining wolf scouts had the advantage in numbers, but they were helpless in the face of this cave that was easy to defend but difficult to attack.
Woo...
The sound of the horn came from a distance, followed by the dense sound of horse hooves.
The sound of arrows breaking through the air, the sound of sharp weapons piercing flesh and blood, the wailing of the wolf and the screams of the orcs mixed together, making people curious about the situation outside.
Although it was unknown which righteous man came to help, their crisis was temporarily resolved.
Just as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, the body of an orc rolled down.
Thorin pulled out a silver arrow from the corpse, and his face immediately darkened, "Elf."
"Is that an elf above?" Aaron looked at Gandalf, as if he understood why he had left the team halfway.
"I can't see where the passage leads to, do you want to go?" Dwalin found the light deep in the cave, turned around and looked at everyone and asked.
"Of course we have to go." Noli said directly, this is the only way, and we can't not go.
"That's the wise thing to do." Gandalf smiled.
"Do you know where this road leads to?" Aaron asked.
"Well... you'll understand when you get there."
The group passed through a narrow, steep path that could only accommodate one person, and stopped at the exit.
"This place... is so beautiful." Aaron looked at the river valley in front of him and couldn't help but widen his eyes. "If the Shire is suitable for retirement, then this is definitely a resort."
In the valley is a beautiful city, with pine trees all over the high places and beech and oak trees in the low places.
Several waterfalls fall from the mountain walls, injecting vitality into the city and finally merging into the river below.
"What is this place?"
"The Imladris Valley." Gandalf explained with a smile, "It is what people generally call..."
"Rivendell." Bilbo couldn't help but say the name of the place.
"You know?"
"This is the territory of the elves. The book describes it as a fairyland. I didn't expect that I could see it with my own eyes."
"This is the last refuge of the Eastern Sea." Gandalf continued.
Thorin walked up to Gandalf impatiently and said in a questioning tone: "You have been planning to lead us here to seek refuge from our enemies."
"Your so-called enemies just saved us?"
"Who knows if they have ulterior motives."
Hearing this, Aaron was speechless. Thorin's resentment towards the elves was really deep.
"You have no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. The only hostility in the valley comes from you." Gandalf said.
"Do you think the elves will bless our expedition?" Thorin shook his head and said, "They will try to stop us."
"Of course, but we have questions to answer."
Thorin was speechless for a moment. There was a way to enter the Lonely Mountain on the map left to him by his father, but not many people could interpret it, and there happened to be one in Rivendell.
He regarded the elves as enemies, and he would naturally feel humiliated to ask for help from the enemies, but he had to do so if he wanted to unlock the secret of the map.
"It takes skill and respect to succeed in this matter." Gandalf looked at Thorin meaningfully, meaning that when you arrive at Rivendell, you should calm down and don't cause trouble.
"It also requires charming charm, so I will be responsible for the negotiation."
"Charming charm?" Aaron curled his lips in disdain, "You are so shameless, can you change your clothes before you say this?
To be honest, if you go in with an empty bowl now, you may come out with a full bowl."
"Gaius." Gandalf rolled his eyes at him, "I remember I said that you still have to know the most basic courtesy."
Walking down the valley along a rugged path, and then crossing several narrow stone bridges, everyone came to a wide platform.
Two elf warriors stood at the entrance of Rivendell with swords, and they were almost the same as humans except for their pointed ears.
"Mithlandar."
A male elf walked down the stairs and saluted Gandalf.
"Linde." Gandalf smiled and greeted.
"Are you still Mithlandar?" Aaron asked.
"Don't worry, this is what some elves call me." Gandalf shrugged, then looked at Linde, "I have to talk to King Elrond."
"King Elrond is not here."
"Not here? Then where is he?"
As soon as the voice fell, a melodious horn sounded from behind.
Hearing this sound, Gandalf seemed to understand something and turned around with a smile.
A group of elf cavalry returned to Rivendell across the stone bridge. Seeing this, Thorin thought the elves were going to attack them, so he immediately asked everyone to gather and prepare for battle.
The thirteen dwarves took up their weapons vigilantly and protected Bilbo in the middle without saying anything, making him at a loss and confused.
Snap!
Aaron slapped his forehead and turned his face away speechlessly.
Where is the respect you promised? You still want to ask for help with this attitude?
As soon as they came back, you acted as if you were facing a great enemy. Is this different from provocation?
And can you be a little wiser?
This is someone else's territory. Even if you are unhappy with the elves, you should at least be aware of the situation!
Gandalf was also very depressed. Fortunately, he was in charge of the negotiation. If someone else had done it, he would have been treated as a bad guest and kicked out.
