Chapter 19 London Bridge Collapses!
As a Gryffindor, Lupin is definitely a good man who is not afraid of death, but such a brave man, in many cases, his character is a little cowardly.
As a plunderer back then, he has never been there for so many years, and he even dared not to meet his best friend's son.
In comparison, Sirius went to No. 4 Privet Drive as soon as he escaped from prison.
In the original time and space, Lupin even evaded his responsibilities as a husband and father, showing the contradictions in his character to the extreme.
But the formation of this complex character is multifaceted. In addition to the tragic childhood, there is also the loss of a best friend overnight, and from then on he wandered alone, wandering at the bottom of society, and experiencing the hardships of the world...
Some people are healed by their childhood all their lives, while some people are healing their childhood all their lives.
The latter is probably the most true portrayal of Lupin.
Rolf didn't have a good way. After all, he was just a veterinarian, not a psychologist. At most, he could only provide some help in speech and work.
Throughout July,
Rolf was learning magic from Lupin.
At first, they were just learning how to deal with dragons, but as they got deeper, it became a Defense Against the Dark Arts course.
Although Professor Snape took advantage of Quirrell's absence to teach everyone for half a year, the second-year professor will be Lockhart.
Just another idiot, it is impossible to learn anything from such a teacher.
Rolf usually relies on the magic of magical animals to fight, but it is not a bad thing to have a wizard to help him systematically learn Defense Against the Dark Arts.
After all, he still has to take exams in the future.
August is here, and before the dragon trainer's assessment comes, Rolf must stop studying and follow Newt to England... to attend Nico's funeral.
Sitting in the chair, Rolf once again opened the marked invitation letter. In fact, there was no invitation to attend the funeral in the letter, only a simple sentence:
London Bridge has collapsed!
Rolf heard from Newt that Nico Flamel had held many funerals, but each time the code name was different, related to where he lived.
The last time was "Operation Barbarossa", and this funeral sounded very dangerous.
They were about to set off soon. Newt seemed to have just remembered something and suddenly began to search through boxes and cabinets for something.
Rolf couldn't help asking, "What are you looking for?"
"That amber... Hey, I remember putting it here! Rolf, did you see it?"
"It seems to be on the third layer of the table on your right." The boy thought for a while and asked curiously, "Why did you suddenly think of looking for that thing?"
Newt opened the table and soon found a pigeon egg-sized amber in the drawer. It was a Burmese blood amber, formed in the Cretaceous period, with cloud-like flow patterns.
The most precious thing is that there is a long-extinct unicorn fly in the amber.
"Gift, a gift for Nico." The old man held up the amber. In the sun, the blood amber was blood red. He was going to pack the amber in a box.
"Aren't we going to a funeral? Why are we giving gifts?" Rolf was obviously a little surprised. Since it was a funeral, didn't we just have to go to the banquet?
We still have to give gifts... Are we going to a funeral or a birthday party?
"It's my first time to attend this funeral, so I don't know the details. I'd better bring some. What if everyone else brings gifts but we don't? It would be embarrassing."
When Newt thought of that scene, his autism started to flare up, and he didn't want to attend the funeral anymore.
"That makes sense...what should I bring?"
Rolf pinched his chin with one hand and supported his elbow with the other, frowning and saying, "Bring some wreaths? Or a paper-made Philosopher's Stone, to burn for Nicolas Flamel at the funeral."
"..."
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Rolf got up and opened the door, and saw a familiar figure.
Lockhart stood at the door. He was wearing a gorgeous purple silk robe with gold thread sewn on it, holding a cane, and his golden hair was shiny and exuded the scent of lavender.
"Hello, Rolf, we met on the Orient Express, do you remember me?"
"Of course I remember, Mr. Lockhart, a famous magic writer." Rolf smiled.
"Kid, I'm not a fantasy writer, I'm a realistic writer, and I write about real things." Lockhart extended his hand enthusiastically.
Rolf didn't move, but Lockhart was not embarrassed at all, and instead pressed the boy's shoulder.
There were also many reporters holding cameras and taking pictures not far away. Lockhart made two or three poses, and when he saw Rolf was about to enter the door, he hurriedly stopped and shouted:
"Everyone, this boy and I... Mr. Newt Scamander's grandson experienced a terrible murder on the Orient Express.
I'm going to write a new book "Orient Express" to record this terrible journey, and this child will play an important role."
Rolf raised his eyebrows. Is Lockhart planning to transfer what he did on the train to himself?
Lockhart did have this plan. In his opinion, Rolf was just a little wizard. He had dealt with so many powerful wizards, so a child shouldn't be a piece of cake?
"One more thing!" Lockhart continued:
"Mr. Newt Scamander invited me to meet here. We are both famous magical zoologists and have won the Order of Merlin... I believe we will have a lot of common topics."
Lockhart took the Orient Express all the way to Istanbul, the final destination, and stayed there for a while. He recently came to the Romanian Fire Dragon Sanctuary.
Lockhart did not expect that Scamander would suddenly write a letter inviting him as soon as he arrived here.
As a master of hype, he would not miss this opportunity at that time, so he called a lot of reporters when he visited.
"My grandpa is waiting for you. Come in quickly." Luofu urged.
Lockhart walked in. The reporters wanted to follow, but were blocked by Rolf.
Rove knew that Newt's purpose in inviting Lockhart was actually to convey Dumbledore's letter, agreeing to Lockhart's application for the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
Rove did not expect that Lockhart would apply for this position on his own initiative.
After so many rapid changes in professors, he still dared to apply. I don’t know whether he was too stupid or too brave.
In short, Dumbledore was having a headache about this matter, and suddenly an unlucky man came to his door.
Dumbledore actually didn't want to invite those outstanding wizards. He was afraid that something would happen to them, and they would not dare to come. Dark wizards with problems don't even dare to go to Hogwarts.
I didn't expect Lockhart to come to my door like this. After a thorough investigation...
Dumbledore responded immediately with a "yes".
Standing in the room,
Lockhart became excited when he heard Newt tell him personally that he had been hired.
Hogwarts has special meaning to him.
Now after unremitting "hard work", he has returned with an honor, which is undoubtedly a very fulfilling thing!
Of course, returning home is just one of them. There are many more benefits to becoming a professor at Hogwarts.
For example...it can make students buy his books as teaching materials, increase sales, and add a special aura to himself.
Having the title of Hogwarts Professor is equivalent to "Dumbledore's approval"!
No matter how you look at it, applying to be a professor at Hogwarts is a great move.
As for the terrible rumors about the Defense Against the Dark Arts position, a professor is changed every year, and this position seems to have a curse...
To Lockhart, it was just an exaggeration, like an urban legend.
In fact, when he was in school, the professors all had their own problems, and they did not die suddenly as if they were cursed.
Lockhart thought that as long as he was careful, nothing would happen to him.
Those professors in the past were all because of their lack of strength, but Lockhart thought he was different!
As long as he spends a year in peace, he can write a best-selling book about "Overcoming the Curse at Hogwarts" and make a lot of money.
Why not?
