Chapter 45 Zeke and William
"Last night, a fire broke out in a hotel in the suburbs of North Carolina, killing four people including hotel staff! According to the investigation, the accident was caused by the old age of the hotel and the aging of the lines! Mayor Boer expressed his grief and condolences, and said that the city's lines and pipeline facilities will be comprehensively inspected and rectified in the near future to prevent such accidents from happening again."
On a wide road, Levi was driving towards the rising sun while eating a hamburger in his hand, and the radio was broadcasting local news.
Levi had no doubt in his heart whether the All Souls Church had the ability to treat the victims who were turned into fools by the violent spirit; but whether the church was willing to help and whether it would consume power to save ordinary people, the radio had already given the answer.
Of course, Levi had no fluctuations in his heart and did not care about those right and wrongs.
"Well, have we reached Stuart?" Levi held the steering wheel with one hand, and the outline of a city could be seen in the distance. "After passing Stuart, we will soon reach our destination!"
"Buzz!" At this moment, Levi suddenly heard a roar of the motor, and at the same time, a thick black smoke full of diesel smell directly filled the entire space in the car.
"Hannibal! I warn you for the last time. If you are idle and turn on the chainsaw again, I will break your arm!" Levi suddenly stepped on the brakes and pressed the car window. Suddenly, a large amount of smoke came out of the car, which looked like the car was burning.
"Ababa!" Hannibal saw Levi's anger, lowered his head in fear, and quickly turned off the chainsaw in his hand, and carefully placed it horizontally on his thigh, like a child who knew he had done something wrong.
"Huh!" Seeing this, Levi could only shake his head helplessly, then took out a can of beer, pushed the door and got out of the car, walked to the side of the road, and waited for the diesel smoke in the car to dissipate.
"Hey! Man! Is your car broken? Do you need help?" Just then, a black two-seater Mustang police car slowly stopped, and a black man wearing sunglasses lowered the car window and shouted to Levi on the roadside.
"Huh?" Hearing this familiar voice, Levi turned around with a surprised look on his face, "Zeke?!"
"Who are you?" The black policeman was shocked when he heard the strong man on the opposite side called out his name. After taking off his sunglasses and looking carefully for a few seconds, he showed a surprised look on his face, "Oh! My God! Li! It's you!"
"Bang!" Zeke opened the car door, stepped forward quickly and gave Levi a big hug, "I can actually meet you here!"
Zeke was also Levi's teammate in the special forces, and the relationship between the few of them was very good back then.
But ten years ago, Zeke was injured and could no longer continue to perform high-intensity combat missions, so he had to choose to retire.
Unlike civilians like Levi, Zeke is a veritable second-generation official!
Zeke's father, Marcus, was once the chief of the Stuart Police Department. He was in a high position and had great influence in the police field even though he had retired.
Therefore, after Zeke retired, his father arranged for him to work in the Stuart Police Department as an agent!
Later, he married and had children and lived an enviable and stable life.
"Hey! Brother, I'm very sorry about what happened to you! But believe me, it's not your fault!" Zeke patted Levi on the back, "Officials are as disgusting as the black police in the police station!"
Zeke is a man with a strong sense of justice. When he first entered the police station, he seemed to be rejected by almost the entire police system because he reported his partner, and was called a traitor and informer.
"Zeke, what happened back then?" Levi only heard a rough idea back then.
"The police force is so united!" Zeke sneered, "Back then, a black policeman used lynching to throw a gangster directly from the roof, but it was seen by witnesses!"
"My old partner, in order to clean up the black policeman's ass, actually designed to shoot the witness!" Zeke shook his head helplessly, "It's outrageous, isn't it?"
"Stick to what you insist on!" Levi pressed Zeke's shoulder after hearing this. Although Zeke looks like a chatterbox with a face full of unreliability, he is one of the few good people who insists on legal justice among the people Levi knows.
"Let's not talk about this! How are Paul and Lisa recently?" Levi turned his head and asked. Paul is also a retired comrade-in-arms of the special forces, but he retired a year earlier than Zeke, and then was assigned to work under Zeke's father, and Lisa is Zeke's wife.
"Paul is now in charge of field patrols. When he's tired, he'll find a place to drink. When he's sleepy, he'll find a street girl to sleep with!" Zeke replied, "As for Lisa, we may get divorced in a while!"
"Zeke, it's not easy for two people to get together. Find a marriage counselor to sit down and talk!" Men always try to reconcile rather than separate.
"Counselor? Haha, Lisa has played poker with the counselor!" Zeke shrugged calmly, "I don't blame her! After all, the police profession has the highest divorce rate, the highest domestic violence rate, and the highest suicide rate!"
"And I almost work overtime on weekends. It's better for me to accompany her to three Saturday parties than to spend five hundred Tuesdays with her!"
"Hey! Boss, the General Administration called. Something happened!" Just as Levi and Zeke were talking, a handsome young policeman walked out of Zeke's police car and shouted to Zeke.
"That's William, a rookie who just got assigned to me!" Zeke introduced him and then shouted, "What happened?"
"A person was hit and killed in the subway on Line 3!"
"What's the big deal! Rookie, learn to be calm!" Zeke's face suddenly turned pale and he scolded, "There are so many homeless people living in the subway tunnel, isn't it normal for one or two to be hit and killed? This kind of thing can be dealt with by the fire department, why do you have to hand it over to us?"
"Boss, there is a vortex mark at the scene!" William leaned in and whispered with a serious face.
"Huh?" Zeke's expression changed slightly when he heard it, "Vortex mark? Jigsaw?! No! Didn't Jigsaw die a long time ago? Is it a copycat?"
William shook his head, "Chief Angie attaches great importance to it, so let us go to the scene to investigate!"
"Zeke, can I go and take a look together?" At this moment, Levi suddenly spoke.
"Boss! This is not in compliance with regulations!" William, who had just graduated from the police academy, was as stunned as Zeke was back then, fearing that Zeke would agree under pressure from friendship.
"Don't worry! I'm a policeman too!" Levi chuckled and took out his police ID from his pocket. "Although I don't have the power to enforce the law across regions, it shouldn't be a big problem to go to the scene and take a look!"
