The Rise of Great Powers: Starting From Military Industry

Chapter 103 Armored Vehicle Technology

Late at night.

The cold wind whistled, mixed with snowflakes.

There was a little snow in the sky tonight, making the weather seem even colder.

Except for the study, the lights in other rooms have been turned off.

Liu Tao was writing on the letter paper, and the lines were very neat and beautiful.

His handwriting could not be called a calligrapher, but it was very neat, better than most people.

Three days ago, he wrote a letter to Zhu Lin. According to the time, it must be on the way. It takes at least a week to send a letter from Kun City to Beijing. Ten days and a half months are normal.

But he still wrote another letter tonight.

After the separation, he always missed Zhu Lin so much in the middle of the night. Zhu Lin's beautiful face always appeared in his mind involuntarily.

Only by expressing his feelings in the letter can he calm his heart.

After writing four pages of letter paper, Liu Tao stopped writing, put on the pen cover, put the letter paper into the envelope, and then affixed the stamp and wrote the recipient and the address.

Liu Tao got up, went to the balcony and looked outside.

Most places were dark at this time, but there were still some places with some lights.

With the reservoir put into use, Panshan Machinery Factory no longer lacked drinking water and electricity.

At least in the next one or two years, there will not be too much electricity shortage.

Two years later, if everything goes well, Chaishitan Reservoir will start to supply electricity, and Panshan Machinery Factory will not lack electricity.

However, although there will be no shortage of electricity now, everyone will not waste electricity.

The termination of the contract is engraved in everyone's bones, and waste will make people feel ashamed.

Liu Tao's thoughts turned to the armored vehicles that he had invested a lot of energy in during this period.

Armored vehicles are various tracked or wheeled military vehicles with armored protection, and tanks are armored vehicles, a type of tracked armored vehicles.

Domestic tanks are currently equipped with Type 59 main battle tanks, Type 62 light tanks, Type 63 amphibious tanks, and Type 69 heavy tanks.

The Type 59 tank was manufactured by the Republic based on the Soviet T-54. So far, more than 10,000 have been produced, 6,000 of which are equipped in the army, and nearly 3,000 are provided as free aid to foreign countries. One or two thousand are in a sealed state and can be started at any time.

The Type 62 light tank was developed in 1958 and officially equipped in 1963. It is mainly used to cope with the poor road conditions with low traffic capacity in the south, such as hills, water networks, rice fields, etc. It has good mobility, certain firepower and protection capabilities. Currently, about 1,400 have been produced.

The Type 63 amphibious tank is the first generation of amphibious tanks developed by China. It is used in inland rivers, lakes, swamps and water network rice fields, landing and anti-landing operations in coastal areas, and destroying enemy beachhead defense facilities.

The Type 69 tank is a medium tank designed and improved on the basis of the Type 59 in the 1960s. It was not successfully developed until 1974. It is also the first domestically produced main battle tank independently developed by my country.

The performance of the Type 69 tank is better than that of the Type 59 tank, but because of the backward technology, the troops would rather use the Type 59 tank than the Type 69 tank. The approximately 200 tanks produced are basically used for training and backup purposes.

Liu Tao also has some knowledge of tanks.

It can be said that domestic tanks did not gradually catch up with the performance of foreign tanks until the Type 99 main battle tank.

And it will take another 20 years before the Type 99 main battle tank is born and put into service.

If he wants to build a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun with advanced performance, he must use an advanced armored chassis. Of course, the engine and other equipment must also improve their performance.

And relying on China's current armored vehicle technology obviously does not meet Liu Tao's requirements.

He needs to break through a lot of technologies!

Armored chassis, tracks, engines, armor, air search radars, etc.!

Even considering that anti-aircraft guns alone cannot meet the air defense requirements, he must consider combining them with air defense missiles.

So far, he has only successfully developed anti-aircraft guns and ammunition.

"There is also a fire control system. China's technology is too backward in this regard." Liu Tao sighed secretly.

The damage to the military industry is devastating.

People only saw the high-tech technology of the two bombs and one satellite, but did not see other weapons stagnating or even taking a big step back.

Just look at the Type 63 automatic rifle. Many reasons are that the production quality is not up to standard, and it has not been improved for more than ten years.

The soldiers do not want an advanced and good gun. On the contrary, as soldiers, they know the guns best. They know what a good gun is better than anyone else.

Just like the Type 78 automatic rifle he developed last year, the soldiers loved it as soon as they used it.

"The 68000 chip, the fire control system can use this as the processor." Liu Tao said secretly.

The fire control system is a very important component of the armored vehicle. It is no exaggeration to say that it directly affects the performance of the armored vehicle.

In terms of chips, China's start can be traced back to the 1950s, when China began to develop its own electronic components, including transistors, diodes, etc. However, due to the limitations of technical level and equipment conditions, China's chip industry has been lagging behind.

The 68000 chip is the ancestor of Motorola's 680X0 microprocessor. It is a CISC structure and was launched last year. It is used in Apple Macintosh computers, Apple LaserWriterⅡSC and Hewlett-Packard's LaserJet printers.

It is such a commercial chip, which is much more powerful than China's most advanced chips.

It is also a chip that can be obtained on a large scale internationally.

But Liu Tao couldn't help but think that if he just bought it, it would be easy to get stuck in the chip.

He was very impressed by this point.

"Alas, there are so many things to do, and I have to rely on myself to conquer the technology step by step." Liu Tao sighed.

This is because he has an item upgrade system. Otherwise, he alone would not be able to develop an advanced fire control system in twenty years, let alone ten years.

As for the third-generation tanks, China took decades to develop the third-generation tanks. If it were an individual, it would be impossible to do it.

And you know, the Soviet Union's T-72 main battle tank began production in 1971 and was equipped in large quantities in 1973.

It is no exaggeration to say that China's most advanced tanks are still a long way behind the Soviet Union's T62 main battle tanks, not to mention the T72 main battle tanks.

After blowing the cold wind for a while, looking at the thin layer of snow on the ground outside, Liu Tao went back to his room to sleep.

The next morning, after arriving at the office, Liu Tao asked someone to mail the letter.

This is Liu Tao. All the guns in the factory were developed by him. There is no possibility of any technical leakage. If someone else wrote a letter, it would have to be reviewed by the security department before it could be mailed.

As for making a phone call, it was even more impossible. There were only two telephones for external contact in the factory, one in Liu Tao's office and the other in Liu Tao's home.

Others could not use the phone at all. Even the deputy director had to come to the office to use the phone.

As for the phone at Liu Tao's home, his second sister and second brother-in-law did not call home every day, at most once a week.

It is really troublesome to make long-distance calls now, and it also wastes resources. They are used to saving.
